SAŠO PODGORŠEK
film director
After graduating from the Ljubljana Film Academy, his short film But the Goat Survived (1991) made waves on the international student film circuit, collecting awards from festivals around the world. What began as a graduation project soon became a launchpad for a diverse and restless creative journey.
Since then, he has explored the moving image in all its forms - directing commercials, music videos, documentaries, dance films, and feature films - each project marked by a distinct visual signature and a fascination with rhythm, movement, and atmosphere.
A long-time collaborator of acclaimed artists and collectives such as Laibach, interdisciplinary visionary Marko Peljhan, and contemporary dance choreographer Iztok Kovač (founder of the EnKnap Group), his work often bridges the worlds of film, performance, and sound.
He has directed over fifty music videos across genres, creating striking visual worlds for artists including Laibach, Demolition Group, Plavi Orkestar, Komputer, Siddharta, Jinx, Lollobrigida, Vlado Kreslin, Melodrom, Random Logic, Kozma, and DJ Umek.
His films and videos have earned him numerous national and international awards - and a reputation for blending experimentation with emotional precision.
